Orissa drew blank while Assam secured two points by taking first-innings lead in their four-day Ranji Trophy East Zone match which ended in draw on the final day at North-East Frontier Railway Stadium in Guwahati today.
Put into bat by Orissa captain Ranjib Biswal, Assam rode on a half-century each by captain Rajinder Singh, Subhrajit Saikia and Nishanta Bordoloi to muster a healthy total of 339. Among successful Orissa bowlers, Biswal and Sushil Kumar Prasad scalped four wickets each, while V Arvind picked up a brace.
In reply, Orissa made 295 to concede a lead of 44 runs. Biswal top scored with 66, while Manojit Bhatt, Shiv Sundar Das, Abakash Khatua, Rajiv Seth and Amiya Ray made notable contributions. In the second innings, Assam declared at 242 for seven to set a target of 287 for Orissa to win the match. When the match ended in draw, Orissa were 46 for two in their second innings.
